Why Dogs Exhibit Aggressive Behavior?
Dog’s owners must know that aggressive behavior in dogs is not something abnormal or uncommon. It is very usual for dogs to be aggressive; it is a kind of defense mechanism for them. You should remember that it is normal and natural for them; this will help you to manage your pet better. All dogs do have a certain degree of aggression which is instinctive or due to hereditary.
Dogs exhibit aggressive behaviors as they are possessive about their belongings just as humans. They are possessive about what you give them like old bones, toys, food or some family members they are close to. If some intruder tries taking his possessions, he may encounter aggressiveness from your dog.
Your dog may also show aggressiveness out of fear. In fact, this is one of the most perilous emotions that your dog may feel. A fearful dog may not attach him with anyone perceiving him as a threat to him. For this reason, if your dog is fearful, you should deal with it very cautiously. Those dogs who do not have much exposure of the outside world mostly feel this way. You will need to give your dog a good and positive exposure to avoid building fearful emotions within him.
Sometimes the reason behind aggressive behavior is pain. If your dog is in pain, he may act this way. You should take precautionary measures to save yourself from him. For example, if your dog has faced some accident and is experiencing severe pain, he may turn aggressive towards you if you approach him. Especially those dogs that are generally calm may turn very aggressive in such adverse situations.
Whatever the cause may be, it is but natural for dogs to become aggressive in certain situations. You must remember that they are after all animals and most animals are wild in nature. In this case, man is also known as social animal; we also feel angry or aggressive. It is recommended to be careful and avoid your dog when you feel he is not in the right mood. He may even bite his own owner in aggressive situations.
