Robby Lace asked:
I have a six-month old male Schnoodle puppy that barks growls  and snaps at my mom whenever she gets close to him when he is sitting with my brother, father, or myself. What should we do to correct this behavior It’s not all the time. It happens most when we are in our room when he is sitting under our chair in the study or laying close to my father in the living room.It doesn’t happen when she approaches is around us everywhere else. If a puppy or any dog is aggressive, lock it in a room where she can’t fool around or destroy stuff.

whenever he does this spray a water bottle at him, or crate him. he will get the behavior is not acceptable eventually. you have to break the habit before he gets older though

He seems to have a jealousy issue together with a territory problem. When you teach/talk to him, you should never appear threatening to him, or yell or use any kind of punishment or force. Talk to him calmly and call his name in a gentle manner. Ask all your family members to use that same tone with him. Maybe when he behaves well you can encourage him with “Good boy” words or giving him a small treat. You can also try taking him outside and playing some, maybe he is bored or stressed out, or poorly socialized. Maybe you could take him to a dog park and watch how he behaves. He will learn boundary and good socialization skills. This is just a phase in his life, it will go away.

“Schnoodle” is the term given by BYBs and puppymills. Your dog is what normal people who aren’t trying to scam you into buying a designer dog call a mongrel mutt.

Have you gone to obedience training classes? they have them at petco or petsmart.

You should really be agressive toward this puppy yourself. let him know hows boss! Tell him when he is wrong and make sure he understands well enough not to do it again.

try teaching this puppy some discipline i mean don’t strike it so hard it is considered abuse just show it that you are the master.
if you do not try and change its attitude now when its older it will probably either end up abandoned in a pound, treat you as the pet, or be seriously ill mannered ! HAVEN’T YOU SEEN LADY AND THE TRAMP?!

First, you should have him neutered if you haven’t already. Next, the person who the dog is guarding should discipline the dog by putting him off of the sofa, out of the area or down off of the lap. Your mom should be feeding the dog and giving treats for doing “sit”. The other people should be correcting.
The squirt bottle does work to chase the dog away but it has to be a shot of water, not a mist.
You should also try to find a Certified Pet Dog Trainer at that specializes in aggression.
Good Luck

haha welcome to my world! i have four 7 month old jackpoos! haha( my dog got ***** and had 4 puppies!) so as you can imagine, taking care of 5 dogs is NOT easy! what i do to control them is discipline. nothing too drastic just raising you voice when they do something bad or taping their nose. when you leave the house you should lock him up when you leave the house so he can’t destroy anything too! trust me! works like a charm! (=xx GOOD LUCK!

Clearly your dog is male orientated, but this behaviour needs to be curbed before someone gets hurt.
Check him for his aggressive behaviour, and if that does not work, then remove him from the room until he learns to accept your mam, or any other females.
Try taking him out for 10 minutes, then re allowing him back into the room. If he again shows aggressive behaviour, take him back out of the situation for a longer period.
This should show him that his behaviour is unacceptable. Keep this up until he finally accepts that your mother is part of the group.
