What can I do about neighbors dog barking?

lab puppy training secrets

David L asked:

My neighbors dog barks a lot and it is often times when no one (save the dog) is home.

This is really getting on our nerves considering we have very little free time to relax and when we are trying to relax (or even sleep!) this dang dog just keeps barking!

Any type of ways to deal with this?

Try buying a sonic bark stopper. You Plug it into the wall and when the dog barks it give out a signal that only the dog will hear and it should stop it barking.

First check out the regulations for your area. Speak nicely to the people who own the dog. They might not be aware.*

Talk to the dog is a forceful dominant manner. If the dog recognises you as being a higher member of the pack it will shut up. Get to know the dog and gain level in the hierarchy.

ask them to do something about it when they are home. they may not realize that their dogs are barking when they are gone… since they are not there to hear it.

Believe it or not there is a law about it and it is called disturbing the peace. Each town and state varies for time frame. For example where I am from before 8:30 am and after 8:30 pm is considered disturbing the peace. You can either call the local PD or the dog officer or both.

You can start with talking to the owner of the dog. Then you have to ask yourself what is causing the dog to bark, it might be an intruder or another serious problem. If the dog is just a barker then talk to your animal control officer and see what he can do.

I have had the same problem in many places I lived.
Right now I can allow myself to sleep in the mornings and when closing all windows it is ok (if it in’t as hot as it has been!) but sometimes I have thought about feeding him some meat and then one day feeding him a poisoned piece of meat.
Actually, I never thought of it as when I am awake I am ok, but while dreaming, I saw myself doing it many times.
But it stays a thought. I am not even sure where the dog is, so I’d have to find that out first and I havent.

In the past, there was a time where I HAD to sleep or I’d lose my business.
The dog was locked up in a garage across the street. The garage had a corrugated metal roof.
I was at the third floor.
I would throw a glass bottle on top of the roof. The smash caused him to stop barking till the morning.
Where I was, (UK) there was no law. I was on the phone many times to Health and safety and the guy sounded like wherever he had come from they EAT dogs when they bark!

call SPCA like “animals police” NOT 911 or human police! So animals police would take care of it that you should call immediately
