madds818 asked:
My dog barks like a maniac when he sees other dogs. He just wants to play but he alarms other dogs and owners(even though he is half chiwawa and half jack Russel). Can anyone give me some tips???

i no it sounds drastic hit him with a rolled up paper/ magazine and after a while he’ll understand that the paper is for hitting him and you never have to hit him i did it for about 2week with mine and shes fine now perfectly behaved. or you can take him to dog training school and they’ll help you there
I know some people may think this is mean but is really isnt.
They sell collars that will give the dog a small shock when they bark, it shouldn’t take them too long to figure out that they shouldn’t bark.
I have seen these collars sell at petco and such stores for around 30 dollars.
How about using a citronella anti-bark collar. It is gentle, and is very effective. I used one on my younger Great Dane with great results.
It is safe (unlike electronic collars that emit a shock). Every time the dog barks, the collar emits a spray of citronella from under their chin. And hey, if you live in humid environment, it also helps get rid of the mosquitos for the dogs!!
Not sure where you are, but below is a link to a website regarding this collar.
You need to let him know that it’s ‘ok’ and he can stop barking. It’s his instinct to bark and protect, but when you say ‘enough’ or ‘it’s ok’ he needs to stop. Try distracting him with a toy. Also, I have heard that a spray bottle w/water works well, in fact they use it at the training center. But if you give him a spray, be sure and use the command ‘enough’ and when he stops, be sure and really praise him. Hope this helps, good luck. I have a chihuahua who barks also, but she is learning to quiet down.
buy a bark collar.
