New Lab Puppy Advise?
liam’s mommy due 9/24/10 asked:
We just adopted a 9 week old puppy from a Puppy rescue. Our best guess as to a breed is a boxer/ yellow lab. This is the first dog I have ever trained by myself. Any hints, tips or pointers for me about obedience training and/or housebreaking?
Thanks!

Crate training is definitely a good way to go with housebreaking. And it also gives the puppy their own little “room”.
clicker training!
i trained both of my dogs with it!
a puppy is going to be a lot of work and patience.
don’t rub their nose in the *** or **** and say no, they have no clue what your trieng to say and its cruel.
use the same command every time you take her out like go potty or use the bathroom. this rule applies with anything your teaching her.
buy her a crate to last a lifetime. when introducing it to her put a bone or something yummy inside.
**make all first experiences a fun and pleasant experience.**
NEVER HIT HIM/HER!!!!!!!!EVER!!!!!
try not to use their name in an angry tone, use a good correction command like uhh uhh in a firm tone.
teach him/her sit, stay, lay down and work with them with it every day for about 10 minutes or until they lose interest. once they learn a command they can forget it if they don’t practice it often.
