how do i train a puppy when i have a roomate who has a dog who has bad habits?
I just adopted a lab/dalamtion that is 6 weeks old. I am picking her up in a week or so. I have a roomate that has a year and a half old english bulldog. His dog, Tequila “happy pees” when excited, is scared of everything. It wont do its “business” outside unless he walks it out there. It jumps on people, it gets on the furniture. Will my puppy learn from this dog? How can i prevent my dog from doing any of these things?
My roomate will be moving out in a few months, he’s my girlfriend’s brother so i cant really make him change his behavior. What should i do?

You just have to be very vigilant with training otherwise your puppy WILL learn from this older dog. Train your dog without the other dog in the room so there are no distractions.
Train your dog the best way you know how. Make sure your dog is well socialized so that he isn’t afraid of things. Just teach the puppy what you want him to do, and let him know gently when you think that things are inappropriate behavior.
ooo thats going to be a challage as puppies look up to the older dog to learn. Make sure you make it clear you are the alpha, the boss and not the other dog. yeah your puppy will eventually learn from this. Make sure both dogs are diciplinded if they do the same thing and dicipline the other dog (talk to your roomate about it ) bottom line, do some training outside and such when the dog isnt there and make sure your puppy knows your alpha.
