Training your Labrador Puppy Three Things To Remember

When Training your Labrador puppy there are 3 main things to remember,

• Have realistic expectations
• Being Consistent
• Praising your new lab puppy

Training Your Labrador Puppy

So let’s start with realistic expectations, whatever problem you are having Training your Labrador puppy whether it’s your Dogs Toilet Training, leash training a puppy, puppy training biting etc.. it will take time.

Lab puppies are quick to learn but it will not happen overnight. Take your time, take it slow and steady. Let’s look at it another way, you have a child that is learning to take its first steps, it takes two steps and falls over, would you be thinking to yourself, that child’s not a walker, no you wait and watch and over the coming weeks that child starts to walk more and more steps. You need to be patient and you will be rewarded with a well behaved Lab Puppy.

The next thing to remember is you must be Consistent. Consistency is what you are aiming for. If you use certain commands for certain tasks that you want your puppy to perform Training your Labrador puppy will become so much easier. If you are doing puppy training recall always say the same thing “Ben (your puppies name) Come”

Make sure you feed your puppy the same time every day, Lab puppy training is all about routine and consistency. Take your new lab puppy out to the same place to relieve himself, put him in his lab puppy crate the same way every night. While he is still very young try nominate 1 person to do the training it will make your life easier. Also if you don’t want puppy sleeping on your furniture, make sure you always tell him to get off, if you let him sleep on there once because he looks so sweet, it will be a hard habit to break. Start as you mean to go on.

The last point is praising your new lab puppy. The more you praise him for doing well the better response you will get. If he has weed on the floor for the 3 time in a day just ignore it, but if he goes outside and relives himself praise him give him a treat, have a game with him he will soon get the message. A puppy just wants to please you; he wants your attention, so remember to praise him. Too much is never too much, the more you praise his good behavior the more good behavior you are going to see.
