Puppy biting?

lab puppy training secrets
Kelsey S asked:

We have a Labrador Retriever puppy that we have had for about a month. He’s always biting and jumping on everyone when we try to pet him or play with him. We try to tell him no whenever he bites, but he starts biting again shortly after.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried grabbing the dogs snout, looking him in the eyes and telling him firmly “NO” when he bites? If you’ve done that, you might want to try a muzzle collar until he learns that’s an unacceptable behavior.

When your puppy jumps the stand up look up and turn your back to it. This encourages it not to jump. You should watch the T.v show IT”S ME OR THE DOG! I learned alot from it. AS for the biting yelp like his siblings would and litghly tap the nose.
This sortat works for my puppy

Eventually he will stop, he is just teething because he’s teeth are still growing in. I had the same problem with all the dogs I’ve had just keep telling him no,and he will learn and his teething will only last a month or two.

Hi, I have a new puppy that is 4 months old and I’ve had him for two months. He bites and jumps up all the time too. You just have to be consistent and always tell him no when he jumps up or bites.

I talked to my vet about the biting last time I was there because my puppy has been eating my door moldings, he said that after 6 months they will start to slow down and stop biting but to enjoy the puppy time because we will miss it. He also said that I can ****** some lemon juice on things I don’t want him to bite or take a wedge of lemon and ****** it in his face while he’s biting and he will not like it.

When he jumps up, try pushing him off with your knee. Keep telling him to jump up and every time he does, push him with your knee. Eventually he will get the idea that jumping up isn’t fun.

Hopefully that was helpful!

Once your dog starts biting you instead of just saying no give it is favorite toy to chew on instead of you, and when your dog is really misbehaving take an empty soda can fill it a quater way full with change cover the top with tape so when it jumps up or something shake the can in face and say a firm NO! This usally gets the dog to stop.
