Leash training your puppy can lead to him biting the leash. However, prevention can be very helpful when you consider that leashes are expensive and that at some point in my experience your puppy biting the leash can be a future problem because they see the leash as a way of keeping them contained. However, if you are like most of us you do not want to invest a minor fortune in leashes only to see them get chewed up right away while you are in the process of getting him used to the lead. Here though are some tips that can help you prevent your puppy from biting the leash while you are training him.

The first tip that you can use is to get your pet used to being walked on the lead. Now this can be a challenge if he insist that the lead is his newest chew toy, but it is something that you are going to want to make sure that you can do. If he does try to chew on his lead you are going to want to break him of that quickly and the best way to do that is by using a very stern voice and telling him no each time that he starts to chew on his lead.

The second tip is that you can keep him attached to you with one of those clips that you see some people walk dogs with. They are usually fairly inexpensive, but if he is attached to you then you will know for certain when he is starting to do this which is when you want to tell him in the stern voice to stop that behavior.
