The first night with new puppy can be stressful. After a long day first day not only will you be exhausted but so will your new Labrador puppy.

First Night with New Puppy
Don’t be fooled it to thinking that your new puppy will be so tired after such a long day he will fall into a long deep sleep. I hate to break this to you but the chance of this happening are slim, but you never know you might be one of the lucky ones.
Your puppy has had a long stressful day and he will be keen to keep his new family in sight. he will find an untapped energy to voice his protest and some puppies can be very persistent!! From such a small thing you will surprised at how much noise he can make.
So how are you going to get through that first night with new puppy ?
Well firstly you need to make a decision and whatever you decide tonight you will need to stick to it.
The most common mistake new dog owners make is the puppy starts to make a noise you go down to calm him and you end up sleeping near the cage, then the next night the same thing happens, then you say ” just for the first few days” and before you know it every night is the same and it will be very difficult to break the habit. You will have a puppy who will refuse to settle at night unless he has company, this is no good for your puppy and it wont help you much either.
So the first night with new puppy is an important one, make the right choices. So Puppy Night Training here we come.

Food for Labrador puppy – Which Food Should I choose?
The Food for Labrador puppy – the first food you give to your Labrador puppy when it first arrives and
This Is Very Important you MUST use the same food the breeder has been feeding your Lab puppy for at least the first few day, otherwise you will be faced with problems.
If you change the food for Labrador Puppy to quickly you will be face with your puppy suffering from
- Stomach Cramps
- Heartburn
- Indigestion
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Refusal to Eat
Which equals a very unhappy Labrador Puppy
You can change to a different type of food but you need to introduce the new puppy food over a few days.
So lets put this into steps
Day 1 – On the first day of changing your puppies food, make sure you have plenty of the old dog food left.
Add three quarters of their old food, and one quarter of the new food.
Day 2 – Again Add three quarters of their old food, and one quarter of the new food.
Day 3 – Add in another quarter, so you have half old food, half new food
Day 4 – Half the old food and half the new puppy food
Day 5 - Then add in a third quarter (one quarter old, three quarters new)
Day 6 – one quarter old, three quarters new puppy food
Day 7 – Your puppy should now be completely on the new food
I hope this helps with Food for Labrador Puppy

What Puppy Bowls should you Buy?
Firstly whatever puppy bowls you decided to buy you will need to buy 2. You will need a puppy feeding bowl and a puppy water bowl.
There is a huge range of dog bowls to choose from:- ceramic, plastic, stainless steel, personalized and even designer dog bowls.
They come in all shapes and sizes some with stands, non slip and non spill.
So lets look at the pros and cons of buying your puppy bowls.
I will be looking at the three main types of bowl that puppy owners use.

plastic dog bowl
Plastic dog bowls
Pros – Plastic dog bowls are relatively cheep, most are dishwasher safe. These food bowls come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colours.
Cons – Some Plastic dog bowls are made of softer plastic which can be easily chewed and scratched by your puppy, this will leave places for bacteria to build up.
Some dogs may develop an allergy to the plastic, resulting in a mild skin infection on their chin or face.

Ceramic Dog Bowl
Ceramic dog bowls
Pros – If you into having everything cordinated ceramic dog bowls are a great way to express your style. These bowls are usually decorated with fun designs and many are handmade by artists. Their protective glaze makes them easy to keep clean, some are dishwasher-safe.
Cons – These dog bowls can become cracked and they will be unsafe for your Labrador puppy. Smaller, less visible cracks can harbor bacteria. Inspect these bowls on a regular basis for any damage.

Stainless Steel Dog Bowl
Stainless Steel dog bowl
Pros – These puppy bowls are my favorite . They are by far the most durable and are also dishwasher-safe. You can get these bowls with a non-skid rim on the bottom to prevent spilling. They are very practical and inexpensive and they will stand the test of time.
Cons - The only down side is Stainless steel bowls are not pretty they do not come in different colors or designs.
So my top choice for buying a puppy bowl would be a Stainless Steel Bowl, easy to clean and will not cause your lab puppy any problems.
