Yes today is the day you are bringing your new puppy home but you need to sort out puppy car safety.
Here is a short video that shows you the right way travel with your Labrador Puppy.
Firstly you need to sort out what time you will be bringing your new puppy home. Try and arrange to pick up your puppy in the morning, this will give you most of the day to settle your new puppy into your home. Talk to the breeder and find out what times puppy is fed and work out your times that way. It’s no good turning up to take your new puppy home just after it’s been fed you will be asking for trouble.
Please try not to be tempted into picking the kids up from school and then going to collect your lab puppy, if you do be prepared for a long night, plus you will have over excited kids in the car and you want the car to be as calm as possible.Excited kids and excited puppies are not a good combination.
So you know what time to pick up your puppy so lets get the car sorted.
Hopefully you have decided to buy a Lab Puppy crate or Lab Puppy Cage this is the perfect way to bring puppy home,it will make him feel safe and this is the safest way to bring your new puppy home. So what are you waiting for put it in the back of the car.
If you are going to use puppy toilet training pads it would be a great idea to line the puppy crate / cage with one of these.
If you haven’t got a puppy crate or cage try and borrow one it really will help. What ever you don’t just put a puppy in the car without any restrants, and never just have some one holding the puppy, this is really dangerous.
If you can’t get hold of a puppy cage or crate then you could us a sturdy card board box. If using this method I would take a friend with you to sit in the back with it. Make sure the sides are high enough so your puppy cant get out . The other option you have is dog car harness.
You might find that your puppy will protest, just ignore him. I always put some music on very quietly, Loretta always seemed to like Robbie Williams.
I hope this has helped you with Bringing Your New Puppy Home and Puppy Car Safety. If you have any questions please contact me. I would love a picture of your Labrador puppy to put on the site if you have one and would like to share it please send it in. I look forward to hearing from you.

Puppy Night Training if you get this right from the start your life will be so much easier
The first thing you need to do is decide where your puppy is going to sleep. The best option for your puppy night training is to have a Lab Puppy crate Or Lab Puppy Cage.
Why?
If your new lab puppy is in his crate or cage he will feel secure and when you get up in the morning you know he has not been able to get into any mischief.

Puppy Night Training
So once this has been decided choose a designated area for your puppy to sleep.
Most new puppy owners choose the kitchen, but the choice is yours.
Puppy night training is all about routine so from the first night with your new puppy follow these basic rules.
- Feed your puppy it’s last meal of the day between 8-9pm. A young puppy has a small stomach, and if he has to wait to long for his breakfast, he will let you know, and you will not get a good nights sleep.
- In the summer it gets light very early, so you will need to block out the light. The way I did this was to put an old duvet cover over the cage. If it’s light puppy will think it’s morning and will want everyone to get out of bed even though it’s 4 in the morning. I know Labrador puppies are bright but they can’t read the time.
- When it’s bedtime, take your puppy outside to his toilet area and wait until he has relieved himself, have a quick game in the hope of tiring him out. ( Dogs toilet training tips go here)
- Settle your puppy into his sleeping quarters and give your Lab Puppy a treat.
- Give your puppy a toy to play with make sure the toy is 100% safe so he cant come to any harm.
- If you are not using a lab puppy crate or cage just have a quick look round the room to make sure there are no potential hazards.
- Shut the door of the room and leave your puppy. Go to bed, and use ear plugs if necessary!
Your new puppy will protest, but please resist the temptation to go down stairs to calm him. Your puppy will learn very quickly that if he makes a noise you will come and see him, don’t do it. The first couple of nights will be hard but if you harden your heart to your new puppies cries, he will eventually settle down. What would you prefer a few nights of your puppy barking, or every night having to get up it’s your choice.
The first night with new puppy will be the hardest, you will lie there feeling guilty, thinking “that poor puppy is all alone down stairs I should go and check him”. Will you still be thinking that after a whole week without sleep you have been warned.
After a couple of nights your Labrador puppy will get into the hang of his bed time routine. He will accept that he is left alone when it’s dark, but you will there in the morning to give him a big hug and a yummy breakfast.
If you go through all the steps in your puppy night training you will find that you will not have many sleepless nights.
Good luck sleep well.

Puppy Cage Training Made Easy
Lets go through the step-by-step process of your Puppy Cage Training. If you do not have a Lab Puppy Cage then I would recommend that you go out and get one, it will be the best investment you will ever make it will make your Lab puppy training so much easier.
So firstly I have found a short puppy cage training video for you to watch, once you have watch it I will go through all the most important points to help you with your training.
Click here for Advanced Puppy Cage Training Tips
I hope the video was of help now lets get on with the training.
- The first thing we need to do with the lab puppy cage is to make it as inviting as possible. You will need to put in your Labrador dog blanket and a boredom-busting Labrador puppy toy. One of the best ones you can buy are the type you can stuff with food treats. Your puppy will be having so much fun trying to get out the treats, his mind will be focused on that.
- To start with put your puppy in the cage for a limited time, but stay in the room.
- The next step go out of the room for a few minutes and then return. Top Tip Do not go straight to the cage and let your puppy out when you come back into the room , don’t make a fuss just take him outside to his toilet area so he can go to the loo. (this will help you so much with your Dogs toilet Training )
- Gradually build up the time you leave your lad puppy in the cage. If he whines and barks please ignore him I know it will be hard but your puppy has to learn. If you go rushing back into the room to tell your puppy off your puppy will have got the attention that he wanted.
- Make a few mock departures, let the puppy she you putting on your coat and let him hear the jangling of keys and even go as far as opening and closing the front door. Wait a few minutes and go back into the room where your puppy is don’t let him out straight away, take your time taking off your coat and putting your keys away. When you have done this open the cage and take him outside as before.(the point of all this is to show the puppy you will be coming back and he will be less anxious when you go out and he will be less excited when you return, excited puppy means a puddle for you to clean up).
- After you have tried this a few times you will be ready to leave your puppy so you can go out to do your food shopping etc knowing that your puppy will be safe and well when you return.
If you work at this puppy cage training exercise, your puppy will learn very quickly that you will be coming back and you will have a happy content puppy not a traumatised one.
The great advantage to having a Lab puppy cage is that your puppy is confined so when you return he will be safe and well and so will your home. He is also less likely to foul his cage.
I hope this puppy cage training has been of help, if you would like to leave a comment or you have a question you would like to ask please feel free, I look forward to hearing from you.
I would love to have some pictures of your Labrador puppies to put on the Blog, if you have one that I could use that would be great.

Puppy Training Biting the Steps You Need To Take
So we now get on to another important part of your Lab Puppy Training, Puppy Training Biting.
Puppy Training Biting is one of the toughest things to crack in your Lab puppy training journey. If you have children you will need to sit down with them and teach them what they need to do. When puppies bite a child, the child will usually pull away from your Lab puppy and the puppy will think it ‘s a game, the more the child pulls the harder the puppy will hold and the more fun your puppy will have.
I have found a short Video That shows an excellent technique that I used for my Puppy Training Biting. I hope it helps.
=>If You Want to Discover the Secret of Stopping Your Lab Puppy Biting Click Here<=
I hope the video helped and now lets find out more. Firstly we need to look at your puppies behaviour. When puppies are born they explore the world through their eyes, ears, sense of smell and unfortunately their teeth.
In the nest your puppy will start to develop his senses over a period of weeks, and he will start to play with the other puppies in the pack. The puppies will start to play by chasing each other, rolling over and biting each other. A smaller weaker puppy will whimper and if a puppy gets to boisterous his mum will tell him off.
You are now the mother of this puppy and you will be the one to reprimand him.
When your new lab puppy arrives at your home he is now part of your pack. He wants to pick up anything that smells and looks good and he will want to give it a good chew. The problems start when your puppy decides that your fingers fall into this category. This is play biting and we need to stop this behaviour.
Up until the age of around 4 months your puppy will have his milk teeth. These teeth are little needles they will not do much damage at this age but as he gets older his teeth will get bigger and you will feel it.
So we now understand why are puppy bites so lets start with are Puppy training biting.
Firstly were do we start .
So you’re playing with your puppy and he starts biting,
- One of simplest ways to stop your puppy biting is to bellow “ow” in a deep gruff voice.(It took me a bit of time to get use to this I wasn’t very good at bellowing in a deep gruff voice) This will surprise him and in most cases he will release his grip.
- As soon as he lets go offer him a toy, he will learn that he is allowed to bite his toys.
- Let him chew the toy for a few minutes, then take it from him using the command “give”
- Another tool that you can use is a tin filled with pebbles, the aim of this is to make a loud sudden noise, the result will be he will stop what he’s doing ,and then you can praise him for stopping what he was doing.
You must remember not to get angry with your puppy. You may feel concerned that your puppies biting is a sign of a poor temperament. Your puppies behaviour is instinctive and it will be your job to teach your puppy that biting is not acceptable if he wants to be part of your pack.
Training your new lab puppy to take toys and treats gently is a great way of controlling his behaviour. This way your puppy will learn how behave in the way that you want him to. If he’s good he will get a treat and praise.
Positive puppy training biting. Now you need to take the next step.
- Start off with offering your new puppy a treat. If your puppy tries to grab it, close your hand and use the command “gently”.
- Offer the treat again; if the puppy tries to grab it again close your hand again.
- When your puppy shows an improvement, reward him with the treat.
- Try this several times a day, withholding the treat until your puppy starts to take it nicely.
Top Tip Never try Lab Puppy Training when your puppy is tired as you will not get a good response.
- Try this when you are playing with your puppy, offer him one of his Labrador puppy toys do not let him have it until he takes it quietly and calmly.
- When you have finished playing the game ask your puppy to “give”. He will probably be a little reluctant at first, so get a treat ready and substitute the toy with a treat so he gets a reward for being a good boy.
- Then offer the toy again and repeat this exercise, this will teach your puppy that if he gives up his toy, he will get it back.
I hope this has helped with your puppy training biting if you have any further tips or have any comments I would love to hear from you.
